Neighbors Celebrate National Night Out On the Newly Renovated Union Railroad Bridge

6:30 p.m. Des Moines Police Chief, Bill McCarthy, will declare National Night Out
9 p.m. Bridge lighting
Where:
Union Railroad Pedestrian Bridge located just south of the Court Avenue Bridge, along The Principal Riverwalk.
What:
Downtown neighbors will gather for National Night Out and celebrate a new neighbor - the renovated Union Railroad Bridge, part of The Principal Riverwalk. National Night Out brings together law enforcement and civic organizations to strengthen neighborhood spirit and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and ready to fight crime.
The group plans to Paint the Town Red as they enjoy food and live music on the freshly painted, red downtown landmark. Chief of Police, Bill McCarthy and other law enforcement officials will be on hand to meet with neighbors. At the close of the event, the new bridge will be lit for the first time.

Members of the Downtown Neighborhood Association, Historic East Village, Inc. and local media are invited to enjoy food and live music on the Union Railroad Bridge.
