About the Principal Financial Group-Grand Island 25th Anniversary
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Grand Island location of the Principal Financial Group. The 613-person office chose this Habitat for Humanity project in order to give back to the Grand Island community, which has supported The Principal so generously over the years.
About Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity
Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, interdenominational housing ministry. Since affiliating with Habitat for Humanity International in 1992, it has built one to four homes a year in partnership with qualifying low-income families, known as Partner Families. Faith communities, businesses and individuals provide the financial support and volunteer labor to build houses for qualified families who in-turn contribute their own "sweat equity." The home is purchased by the families for the value of materials without charge for volunteer labor or allowance profit. Habitat provides zero interest financing for the home purchases. Home owner mortgage payments recycle to support the construction of additional homes.
