The Principal Financial Group Helps Financial Professionals "Work their Book"

October 2, 2007 (Des Moines, Iowa) — Financial professionals know it is often easier and more profitable to expand relationships with existing clients than it is to sell to new clients. However, the Principal Financial Group® understands that many financial professionals don't have the time and tools to effectively "work" their current book of business. To help solve this dilemma, The Principal® has launched a new program to help train financial professionals at banks and credit unions, as well as career agents and brokers, how to tap into this opportunity for cross-sales and referrals.

The new "More Business. Less Time." client relationship management program is available free to bank financial professionals, career agents and brokers who do business with The Principal. It includes easy-to-use marketing strategies, sales ideas, sales tools and client materials covering topics such as:

  • Three steps to work your book
  • How to turn new customers into clients in 60 days
  • The importance of creating a 12-month contact plan
  • How to use annuity reviews to build relationships
  • How beneficiary reviews may position you to attract new clients (beneficiaries)
  • How to use referral cards to increase business
  • How to conduct successful client seminars to obtain more business
  • Ways to use matured savings bonds to get more business

"Deepening relationships with people who already know and trust you is just smart business, and this program is one more way The Principal is working with financial professionals to help them succeed in their business," said Steve Becker, vice president, Business Development-Annuity Services at The Principal. "We're excited to have a comprehensive program in place for sharing our relationship management expertise and offering proven techniques financial professionals can use quickly and easily. Ultimately, when financial professionals enjoy the benefits of greater client loyalty and satisfaction, we all win."

Financial professionals who are interested in the new program can contact the Annuity Salesdesk at 866-309-1623 for more information.
