The Principal Financial Group Announces New Senior Vice President of the Health Division
April 11, 2008 (Des Moines, Iowa) — G. David Shafer has been named Senior Vice President of the Principal Financial Group® health division. He will have direct oversight of the company's health insurance business.

Shafer joins The Principal® with more than 20 years in the health care industry. He is a respected industry consultant and has held a number of leadership positions at major corporations as well as smaller, regional health insurance companies. Recently he served as president of pharmacy benefits management at Cigna. Prior to that, he was executive vice president of national operations for AmeriChoice, the Medicaid business segment of United Health Group.
