Launch of The Principal 10 Best Companies Advisory Council and Alumni Association Broadens Benefit Expertise
October 14, 2009 (Des Moines, IA) - The Principal® 10 Best Companies for Employee Financial Security is extending its value as a source of best practices for benefits with the launch of The Principal 10 Best Companies Advisory Council and The Principal 10 Best Companies Alumni Association.
These two new groups will provide a forum for past winners of The Principal 10 Best Companies to share ideas and provide valuable insight on trends and issues that will help shape the national recognition program.
"Eighty companies in the nation are among the elite The Principal 10 Best. These organizations stand out for their commitment to employee financial security through their wise management and careful selection of employee benefits," said Luke Vandermillen, vice president at The Principal. "We are excited to provide an ongoing opportunity for these exceptional companies to share information with one another and, through the 10 Best program, with other growing companies."
The Principal 10 Best Companies Advisory Council is made up of a select set of five representatives from past winning companies. These experts will draw from firsthand experience in shaping and managing innovative employee benefit programs to help guide The Principal 10 Best Companies program. Inaugural members of the council are:
- Nancy Ayres, general manager, FLEXCO - 2004 winner (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
- Sandy Brown, vice president, Human Resources, Glatfleter Insurance Group - 2005 winner (York, Pa.)
- Marie Schram, director, Human Resources, LMI - 2007 winner (McLean, Va.)
- Beth Nighbor, associate development leader, Badger Mining Corporation - 2007 winner (Berlin, Wis.)
- Scott Parker, chief operating officer, Torch Technologies - 2008 winner (Huntsville, Ala.)
The Principal 10 Best Companies Alumni Association is made up of winners of the program from the past eight years. Alumni Association members will have a number of privileges including special access to research results, benchmarking information and networking opportunities with other members. This group will also be a source of ongoing survey information about key benefit issues.
"The Principal 10 Best Companies are role models for other growing businesses that want to become an employer of choice. By formalizing our connection with past winners through the Alumni Association and Advisory Council, we'll be able to share even more insight with small- and medium-sized companies," said Vandermillen.
