Pensions & Investments Lauds the Principal Financial Group for 401(k) Education
The Principal named a 2009 Eddy Award winner
(Des Moines, Iowa) — Pensions & Investments has recognized the Principal Financial Group® as one of the magazine's Eddy Award winners, recognizing excellence in investment education to defined contribution plan participants.
The Principal® won first place for its campaign promoting National 401(k) Day. The Principal partnered with its employer client Advantage Sales & Marketing (ASM) to execute the successful promotion.
The contest, “401(k) Day Your Way,” and the campaign, “Objects in the Future are Closer Than They Appear,” helped build momentum and generate awareness around retirement savings for ASM employees. The campaign resulted in an average salary deferral rate of 6.74 percent among new participants and a 3 percent increase in participation during a four-week period.
The Eddy Award follows three additional industry awards for creative excellence and superior results.
“Given today's economic climate, investment education for 401(k) plan participants is more important than ever,” said Eileen Conroy, assistant vice president of Marketing, The Principal. “We are consistently focused on offering our clients the best educational materials and tools in the industry to help them make educated decisions about their financial future. We're honored to be recognized for our commitment.”
