The Principal Financial Group Announces Ned A. Burmeister Named Senior Vice President and COO, Principal International
February 24, 2010 (Des Moines, IA) - The Principal Financial Group® announced the promotion of Ned A. Burmeister to senior vice president. He will assume the position of chief operating officer of Principal International, Inc. and will be responsible for finance, planning, operations and risk management outside the United States for the company's international asset management and accumulation segment.

Based in Des Moines, Iowa, Burmeister joined The Principal in 1979 as an actuarial student. He has served in a number of executive positions throughout the company including the pension, international and trust/retirement divisions. He is a member of the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries. He earned his bachelor's degree from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
