New Tool Helps Financial Pros Build Customized Retirement Education Plans

The Principal gives easy online access to full education library

April 12, 2010 (Des Moines, IA) - As America rebuilds from the economic crisis, financial professionals that can offer customized participant education to retirement plan clients have a leg up on the competition. But the extra effort can be time-consuming.

A new Participant Education Planning Tool from the Principal Financial Group® helps streamline the process. It gives financial professionals easy access to a comprehensive library of education plans and materials and the flexibility to build programs that align with their service models.

"The Participant Education Planning Tool is another example of our commitment to give financial professionals choice and flexibility in building retirement plans to meet their client's needs," said Monica Kirgan, vice president and national service director of retirement and investor services at The Principal®. "This tool allows financial professionals to showcase their expertise by creating participant education plans tailored to their client's needs."

Financial professionals can use the Participant Education Planning Tool to help retirement plan sponsors increase participation, salary deferrals and overall participant satisfaction with the plan. With the new tool, financial professionals can quickly find:

  • Complete education plans that are ready to use
  • Templates they can tailor to make the education plans their own
  • Flexible materials that allow them to create a variety of education plan options

The Principal worked closely with financial professionals to develop the Participant Education Planning Tool. "We listened when financial professionals asked for help in providing participant education in a more efficient way," said Kirgan. "This tool demonstrates our commitment to support how financial professionals want to service their clients."

The tool expands the slate of participant education resources from The Principal for financial professionals to offer clients. They also have access to local education personnel who conduct both group education meetings and one-on-one meetings with participants. It is part of an extensive platform of resources from The Principal to help financial professionals grow and manage their businesses.
