The Principal Enhances Service Platform to Help Advisors Be More Competitive

Allows financial professionals greater flexibility and choice in retirement plan services

March 30, 2010 (Des Moines, IA) - As financial professionals work to differentiate themselves in the competitive retirement plan marketplace, they are looking for service providers that are flexible enough to help them demonstrate their value to their clients.

The Principal Financial Group® announces an enhanced platform of tools, services and pricing that gives financial professionals the choice and flexibility they want to be more competitive.

"Financial professionals want access to flexible products and services so they aren't limited in what they can bring to their clients," said Doug Grove, vice president and national sales director of retirement and investor services at The Principal®.  "At The Principal, we give them the ability to mix and match our local services and resources so they can build a strategy that best fits their service model and their clients' needs."

Grove continued, "By recognizing their business models with more flexible services and pricing, we're honoring the value financial professionals bring to their retirement plan clients and supporting how they want to serve them."

Financial professionals can choose the services they want to deliver and the services they want The Principal to take the lead on, including:

  • Participant education
  • Local service support and annual plan and investment reviews
  • The choice of a bundled service model or working with a local third-party administrator
  • Investment flexibility

"These choices complement what financial professionals do well and give them the flexibility they want which ultimately impacts their client's fees," said Grove. "The enhancements are in addition to an extensive set of resources we already make available to help financial professionals manage and grow their businesses more efficiently."

Some of the other resources available to financial professionals include access to:

  • Service and education professionals dedicated to helping financial professionals grow and manage business
  • More than 70 non-branded business development tools
  • The Retirement Dashboard - a central location on The Principal Web site that makes it easier to manage client information
