The Principal Financial Group Contributes to Japan Relief Efforts
April 27, 2011 (Des Moines, IA) - The Principal Financial Group® has announced a gift of $250,000 USD to assist ongoing relief efforts following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan. The gift will be made on behalf of The Principal® and its employees.
The Principal has directed $150,000 USD to the Japan disaster relief fund via the Japanese Chamber of Commerce New York. An additional $100,000 USD, including donations from employees of The Principal and a match from the company’s charitable foundation, will benefit the Japanese Red Cross Society.
“Our thoughts continue to be with those affected by the disaster,” said Larry Zimpleman, chairman, president and CEO, The Principal. “We are grateful to be able to support our employees in Japan, our partner Nippon Life Insurance Company of Japan, and those providing disaster relief through their heroic efforts in light of the tragic losses and the lingering effects of this crisis.”
