Barress Joins The Principal Financial Group Boston Office
October 31, 2005 (Boston) — The Principal Financial Group®, the nation's 401(k) leader and total retirement solutions innovator, announces Gretchen Barress, has been promoted to vice president of sales for the Boston Retirement Services office. Barress will lead a team of retirement professionals in providing a comprehensive portfolio of retirement plan products and services to prospects generated by the brokerage and financial professional community.
Barress, with more than 12 years of industry experience, is responsible for actively engaging The Principal® wholesale network with the intermediary community, providing education on the retirement plan market, and aligning employer retirement plan needs with total retirement solutions from The Principal.
Barress joined The Principal in 1994 as a benefits counselor in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1996 Barress was promoted to a group representative and began working in Washington, D.C. In 1999 Barress was promoted to a senior group and pension representative and transferred from Washington, D.C., to Westchester, NY, where in 2001 she was promoted to vice president of sales. An Ohio native, Barress graduated from James Madison University in Virginia with a double major in Communications and French.
