Cedar Falls Area Education Organizations Awarded Grants by the Principal Financial Group Foundation, Inc.

August 16, 2005 (Cedar Falls, Iowa) — In an effort to support community needs in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area, the Principal Financial Group Foundation, Inc. provided grants totaling $19,000 during second quarter 2005 to local youth-oriented education organizations and the University of Northern Iowa.

Organizations benefiting from the grants program include:

  • University of Northern Iowa - The grant will support scholarships to students studying in the real estate program at the University of Northern Iowa.
  • Junior Achievement of Black Hawk Land and East Central Iowa - The Personal Economics program of Junior Achievement aims to increase students' understanding of finance, paying taxes, handling credit cards and saving for the future.
  • Waterloo-Cedar Falls Dollars for Scholars - Dollars for Scholars mobilizes and unites local citizens and encourages local students to reach for and achieve their educational goals. Scholarships are awarded to deserving graduating high school seniors.

Other grant recipients include Family & Children's Council of Black Hawk County and Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley.

These grants were made as part of the quarterly charitable grants program of the Principal Financial Group® and the Principal Financial Group Foundation. The second quarter grants cycle focuses on education and funds scholarships and educational programming offered by a variety of not-for-profit organizations in targeted communities.
