Overdraft Information


What type of overdraft protection is available?

Overdraft protection is provided from a Regular or Advantage Savings or Money Market Account. The amount advanced will be the exact amount needed to cover the overdraft based on the available savings or money market balance.

How do I get overdraft protection?

To link existing accounts (Regular or Advantage Savings or Principal Bank Money Market) to your checking account, select "Personal" from the Account Login drop-down menu found in the upper left corner of this page and login to your account.

If you do not have a "Personal" login, or if you're unsure, go to Establish Your Username and Password.

Once you've logged in, go to the Account Summary for one of your accounts, click "More Services" in the left navigation and click Add Overdraft Protection to this account.

If you need to open one of the accounts above, contact the Bank Customer Center at 1.800.672.3343.

How do I access my overdraft protection?

Overdraft protection from a Principal Bank Savings or Money Market account is available for paper check and billpayment transactions. Overdraft Protection does not authorize for ATM or Debit Card transactions.

Principal Bank will advance from the savings or money market account the exact amount to cover overdrafts incurred on the specified checking account.
