Nonpersonal Account Ownership
Pick the ownership type for your account application (you will select your account type on the application):
Trust or Estate
If you would like to open a Checking, Savings, Advantage Savings, Money Market or Certificate of Deposit account in the name of a formal revocable trust, an irrevocable trust, or an estate, please follow these steps:
- Review all of the applicable disclosures for the accounts you are applying for prior to completing the application:
- Principal Bank's Terms and Conditions and Required Disclosures (PDF: 142 KB)
- Principal Bank's Schedule of Fees (PDF: 158 KB)
- Click on the orange Open a New Account button below. Complete the application form, print it out, and have it signed by all trustees or executors.
- Mail the completed and signed application form, along with the following items to:

Des Moines, IA 50306-9351: - For trusts: a complete copy of the trust agreement plus a check made out to Principal Bank (if the initial deposit is by check)
- For estates: a complete copy of the certified, filed stamped court document appointing personal representatives, plus a check made out to Principal Bank (if initial deposit is by check)
Principal Bank will access your credit file and other data sources to authenticate your identity and facilitate the processing of this application. By completing and sending an application, you authorize Principal Bank to check your credit and employment history with a consumer credit reporting agency.
Guardianship or Conservatorship
If you would like to open a Checking, Savings, Advantage Savings, Money Market or Certificate of Deposit account in the name of a guardianship or conservatorship, please follow these steps:
- Review all of the applicable disclosures for the accounts you are applying for prior to completing the application:

- Click on the orange Open a New Account button below. Complete the application form, print it out, and have it signed by all guardians or conservators.
- Mail the completed and signed application form, along with the following items to:

- A check made payable to Principal Bank (if initial deposit is by check)

Uniform Transfer to Minors Act (UTMA)
If you would like to open a Checking, Savings, Advantage Savings, Money Market or Certificate of Deposit under the Uniform Trust to Minors Act (UTMA) or Uniform Gifts to Minors Act (UGMA), please follow these steps:
Principal Bank will access your credit file and other data sources to authenticate your identity and facilitate the processing of this application. By completing and sending an application, you authorize Principal Bank to check your credit and employment history with a consumer credit reporting agency.
