Debi's Story
Several years ago, my husband and I made it a goal to relocate to Florida from New York to be closer to the rest of our family once our youngest son graduated from high school. Each time we relocated (New York to Minnesota and Minnesota to Florida), The Principal gave me the opportunity to stay and take on a different role. Incredibly, I was able to advance my career at the same time.
While my career at The Principal has been a mosaic, my passion continues to be around client service. In 19 years with the company, I’ve had seven different roles. I began as a marketing assistant and moved into several client-facing roles that allowed me to work with clients to design an effective plan for their employees and then educate their retirement plan participants. Now, I oversee a team of nearly 50 professionals who do the very same thing today.
If you work hard, the opportunities are here to make your career what you want it to be. For me, it’s been a great equation hard work and a vision on my part, multiplied by caring leadership and stretch assignments from The Principal. It’s all equaled the realization of my goals … so far.
