Years at The Principal: 5 years
Maria's Story
I grew up in Colombia where opportunities were more limited than in the United States. From an early age, I learned the meaning of hard work and dedication. Those were two qualities that I knew were necessary to succeed.
That hard work and dedication has paid off. I’ve obtained my CFA designation, my Master’s degree and participated in an extended stay program in our London office while working at The Principal.
As an analyst in our international equities area, I research and analyze equity investment opportunities and make recommendations for various international portfolios, as well as interact daily with sell-side analysts and industry experts. In addition, I travel to Europe and developed Asia to meet with the management of global consumer companies in order to generate potential investment ideas for our international portfolios. Prior to my current role, I was a portfolio management assistant.
When I look back over the past five years, I’m proud to say that I’ve been able to positively contribute to client portfolio and assetperformance through stock research, recommendations and due diligence efforts. In four years, we’ve been able to grow our total international equity assets under management from $6 billion to more than $20 billion.
The Principal is a dynamic and growing company with exciting opportunities and challenges. Here, you can make the most of your skills. I am.
