Scott's Story
At The Principal, you can chart your own course. I have. During my career, I’ve held five positions in various areas of the company. I take the most pride in making an impact here with work that I did to help in the design and construction of the Principal Riverwalk – which I’m confident will become a great landmark in downtown Des Moines.
My career has evolved over the years. When I started at The Principal, I worked as a consultant within Human Resources, performing work measurement studies and facilitating Quality Circles. I was promoted to a senior consultant within Human Resources after a few years. Then, I became an assistant director, leading a process improvement team, corporate trainers and a market research team.
I transitioned out of Human Resources and became the director for the company’s project management and performance improvement initiatives. There, I led the company’s operational excellence efforts. All of those positions have led me to my current role where I lead a team of corporate negotiators and supplier managers.
At The Principal, you’ll find that the work is challenging and the issues are rarely the same. I’ve been involved in a number of efforts that have created business and cultural change. It’s a tremendous feeling to know that my work has made a difference.
