A 360 Degree Approach to Retirement Preparedness
A new report from CREATE-Research and commissioned by the Principal Financial Group® explores both product-based and guidance-based solutions to address gaps in the U.S. retirement system.
The report, titled A 360 Degree Approach to Preparing for Retirement, concludes with a clear approach for each key stakeholder group — asset managers, plan participants, financial advisors and plan sponsors — to help improve retirement outcomes.
Key findings from the report (PDF: 2.98 MB) include:
- Product innovations that are transforming both the accumulation and decumulation phases of retirement savings
- Top factors keeping plan participants from becoming more financially secure
- Best practices in plan design, education and retirement planning strategies
The report is based on a survey of 148 asset managers, plan sponsors and financial advisors with active involvement in the 401(k) space. The survey was followed by 30 interviews with a cross-section of respondents.
