"Rounding the Bases" with Aaron Boone

I can’t believe this year’s Principal Financial Dreams Tour is in the history books. This year marked the 11th year The Principal has visited minor league ballparks with great promotions, legendary player appearances, hospitality events and charitable activities. And it was a great one, with 18 events from coast-to-coast and north to south, and nearly 100,000 fans attending tour events. Additionally, in honor of our men and women in uniform, The Principal donated $18,000 to local chapters of the Wounded Warrior Project’s "Warriors to Work" initiative and other military organizations to help vets get back to work when they return from deployment.
As part of The Dreams Tour for the past four years, The Principal has been committed to sharing information about how to build a solid financial future. My past few blogs have talked about this, using the analogy of the Four Bases of Financial Security. Just like having good fundamentals in baseball, the Four Bases of Financial Security are the building blocks for a successful financial future.
Now, there isn’t a single ball player who doesn’t understand the need for a good coach or manager. No matter how talented you are, you need someone who can provide objective suggestions built on their many years of experience to help you avoid pitfalls and go from being a good ballplayer to a great one. Ask any player — from the newest rookie to an All-Star veteran — and you’ll get the same answer, "if it weren’t for my coach, I wouldn’t be here today."
A coach will keep you on track during the good times and help you get out of a slump in the bad. Good coaching, like good performance on the field, makes champions. An advisor, like a coach, can help you create and maintain your own winning strategy.
That’s all for this season. Thanks for your support and we’ll see you next summer at the ballpark!
