Wellness Program Defined
Do you have a wellness program in place? Does the program effectively address the needs of high-risk employees and reduce claims? Find out the keys to an effective wellness program and how it can impact you.
The keys to an effective wellness program
According to the National Wellness Institute, “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of, and making choices toward, a more successful existence." There are several key ideas in this definition that denote a wellness program:
An Active Process - Participants must be actively engaged and involved in the wellness program. If employees don't participate, the program has no chance of succeeding. We can help motivate employee participation.
Aware and Making Choices - Education is the single most important factor in any wellness program. Our process engages employees during "teachable moments" helping them to become aware of potential risks and to make healthy choices. Learn about the ongoing education we provide:
Successful Existence - We define success in two ways:
- Did the program improve the health and welfare of the participant? We proudly report that we have extensive testimonials and stories of lives saved and diseases thwarted or minimized due to member participation in our programs.
- Did the program reduce claims and provide a benefit to the employer? We enthusiastically dedicate time and resources to the studies that ensure the success of our programs.
What does it mean to you and your employees?
Healthier employees mean lower costs due to reduced claims. Reduced claims also equates to:
- Decreased absenteeism
- Increased productivity
- Better morale
- Higher health benefit satisfaction
