Health Reimbursement Arrangement

If your employer offers a Principal Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) you have access to an outstanding employer-funded consumer driven solution that gives you greater freedom of choice in your personal health care decisions. Each year, your employer makes a predetermined amount available to you through the HRA. These funds can be used to pay for eligible medical expenses until your balance reaches zero, and then you simply pay the remainder of the deductible and out-of-pocket expenses.

Other advantages include:

  • Claim payments are integrated for seamless submission and less paperwork. Everything, including reimbursement benefits, is handled through a one claim.
  • We automatically process claims to determine PPO discounts, then draw against the HRA first, followed by submission for applicable insurance coverage.
  • Depending on the type of HRA your employer selects you may accumulate reimbursement benefits for future use. Unused reimbursement benefits can roll over to future calendar years, up to a total amount equal to the PPO out-of-pocket expense limit
