What is a Non-Qualified Plan?
A medical plan will not be considered a qualified high deductible health plan, if any of the following are true:
- It provides first dollar coverage (except for preventive care);
- The deductible is less than $1,100 for self coverage or $2,200 for family coverage (2007 limits);
- The out-of-pocket limits are greater than $5,500 for self coverage and $11,000 for family coverage (2007 limits); or
- Prescription drugs are not subject to the deductible (preventive drugs could be covered at co-pay or 100%)
