Meet the Northwest Business Center Team

Janice joined the Principal Financial Group^® (The Principal^®) in 1992. With almost 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, in the field and in management, she has developed strong knowledge surrounding financial solutions for Business Owners, Key Executives and their employees. Janice is responsible for managing the leadership team, revenue growth and building a team of financial representatives across Oregon and Idaho.

Janice is active within the industry as a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), Financial Planning Association (FPA), Society of Financial Services Professionals (SFSP) and General Agency Management Association (GAMA) International. On a local level, she participates in the Womens' President Organization, Women In Financial Services, Portland Business Alliance and Portland Female Executives. Janice is passionate about helping children and families in need, she shares her personal time volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House Charities organization.

As Managing Director, Brett is responsible for overseeing the business center's Boise team of Financial Services Representatives. He is focused on building the center's Boise presence by hiring new financial professionals. Brett has been in the financial services industry since 2006 specializing in estate and retirement planning strategies and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).

Brett has extensive military experience in the Air Force. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1992 where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and later earned a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from Central Michigan University. Brett maintains combat mission ready status as an A-10 pilot while in a traditional guardsmen status with the Idaho Air National Guard.

Brett is an active leader within the Boise community. He is a member of the Boise Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Small Business Administration Committee.  He is also involved with the Boise Optimist International Club and Boise Human Resource Association. In his personal time, Brett enjoys spending time with friends, family and coaching hockey and lacrosse teams.

Walt has 34+ years of financial services industry experience, joining The Principal^® in 2007. Walt enjoyed early success as a financial professional, qualifying for Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) 15 times throughout his career. Walt was introduced to agency management early in his career and has held a management role for 26 of his 34 years in the industry.

As a Development Director, Walt's responsibilities include professional development for our financial professionals, with a strong focus on product, sales and skill building techniques.

Walt is an active member of the Portland Business Alliance and a Board Member of the local National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA/NW Portland Chamber). In addition, Walt enjoys volunteering as a Reserve Police Officer for the Tigard Police Department.

Mary has been working in the financial service industry for 10 years, joining The Principal^® in 2007. She oversees Business Center operations, works closely with the management team on a variety of jobs and supervises our multi-location support staff.

Denise Joined the Principal Financial Group in 1998. As Marketing Consultant for the Northwest Business Center, Denise works closely with the Business Center financial professionals on their individual marketing plans and activities. In addition, Denise plays a key role in the leadership team's promotion of The Principal brand in the Oregon and Idaho areas.

Denise's community involvement includes an Ambassador for the Lake Oswego Chamber, active member for Women In Financial Services (WIFS) and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Denise gives back to her community by volunteering as a chemo pal for the Children Cancer Association in Portland. Denise enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and participating in outdoor activities.

Laura has over 11 years of industry experience, joining the Principal Financial Group Northwest Business Center as a Senior Marketing Coordinator. Laura will provide support to our Oregon and Idaho financial representatives with a wide range of activities such as case design and administrative duties. Laura currently holds the FINRA 7, 24 and 66 registrations.

In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her son. Laura is a supportive parent volunteering at sporting events and school activities. In addition to parenthood, Laura enjoys working out, spending time with friends, reading and walking the family dog, Daisy.

Jan has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years, joining The Principal^® in 1983. Jan provides administrative support to our Idaho financial professionals. In addition, Jan works closely with Brett Gallagher on management, sales support and growth of our Boise office.
