Whether you’re traveling right here in the United States or leaving the country, you can rely on AXA to help make your travel experience go off without a hitch. And because you’re covered by group term life insurance from Principal®, you have access to many travel assistance services for free—no matter if you’re traveling for business or pleasure.

Who’s eligible?

You, your spouse, and your dependent children can access this service when traveling 100+ miles away from home for up to 120 consecutive days. And your spouse and dependent children are covered whether or not they’re traveling with you.

Lost/stolen item recovery and medical assistance

Lost/stolen items

We all hope it won’t happen to us, but it could. Lost items are a travel reality. And sometimes, you simply forget to pack the essentials. AXA can help you recover or replace lost, stolen, or forgotten items so you don’t miss a beat, including:

  • Cash and credit cards
  • Important documents (driver’s license, passport)
  • Luggage
  • Medication or glasses/contacts

Medical assistance

Getting sick or hurt while traveling is no picnic. When you need it most, AXA is there to assist with finding medical and dental care, like:

  • Medical pre-certification and referrals to physicians, specialists, clinics, and hospitals
  • Dental referrals for emergencies
  • Hospital admissions, medical monitoring, and discharge planning
  • Replacement and delivery of medical devices
Emergency medical transportation

Unfortunately, medical emergencies sometimes interrupt a trip, and you just need to get to a hospital—or get home. This service is per person per trip for emergency situations including:

  • Emergency medical transportation to a different facility if medically necessary
     
  • Medically supervised return to your home country (known as repatriation)
     
  • Transportation for a family member to join you
     
  • Transportation for a traveling companion to join you in a different hospital or treatment facility
     
  • Transportation home for dependent child(ren)
     
  • Return of mortal remains

To be eligible for services under this program, your treatment must be authorized and arranged by designated staff from AXA. Claims for reimbursement won’t be accepted. Please contact AXA for further benefit details.

Communication resources

Sometimes communicating is a challenge. When it is, we’ve got you covered.

  • Urgent message relay—When you need help getting your message through, rely on AXA for emergency message delivery.
     
  • Language services—Not speaking the local language is inconvenient in the best of times, and stressful in the worst. We’re here to help, providing emergency telephone interpretation.
Help when you need it most

Sometimes things aren't smooth sailing when you're away from home, and you might not know where to turn. AXA is there to assist with:

  • Legal concerns—Don't know where to turn for trusted legal help? Contact AXA for connections to local legal professionals and bail assistance.
     
  • Political evacuation—If you need to evacuate a country based on political grounds, AXA will arrange your return to your home country.

AXA helps you get ready to head out when you travel even farther away from home.

  • Pre-trip requirement information—Proper documentation is a must for a successful trip. Start the planning early by learning about:
    • Passport or visa requirements
    • Vaccination requirements
       
  • Research the necessities—You don’t want any surprises when it comes to money, laptop cords, or cultural differences. Rely on AXA for information about:
    • Exchange rates and other cultural information
    • Electrical outlets and local voltage information
       
  • Precautions—Being prepared for all situations can make you a more confident traveler. You’ll have access to:

Access travel resources online and on-the-go by creating an account

Getting ready to travel outside the U.S.? Research your trip with AXA online. AXA’s website and mobile app give you access to up-to-date information on the countries you’re about to travel to.

Ready to create an account? Here’s what you need to know.

  1. Go to travelassistance.principal.com.
  2. Create and account by providing: Username, Work Email and Password.
  3. A confirmation email will be sent to you with your username (your email).  Verify your account via the link provided.
  4. You will be taken to the portal where you can log in using the username and password you created. 

Take AXA with you by downloading the App.  Once you’ve created an account, you can also access AXA’s travel portal on your phone or tablet.  Download AXA Traveleye from the App Store® or Google PlayTM.

When traveling 100 miles or more away from home for up to 120 consecutive days, medical emergency transportation services include the arrangement and payment for any reasonable and customary charges determined by AXA Assistance USA, Inc. No reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses will be accepted. This service is not part of any Principal Life insurance contract and may be changed or discontinued at any time.
