Tanner's Story On Culture and Work Environment

The thing that has surprised me the most has been the access to senior leaders. I have had the opportunity to speak with people ranging from Larry Zimpleman, former chairman, president and CEO to Pat Halter, president of Principal Real Estate Investors.

The greatest thing about an internship at The Principal is that you’re surrounded by a lot of other interns who quickly become not just your coworkers but lifelong friends. If I hadn’t interned here at The Principal, I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet countless other students from across the country. There’s a sense of community, everyone knows each other and everyone loves coming to work each day. It is a very fun environment to work in because it’s fast paced and challenging yet everyone still is so friendly and welcoming.

I have discovered that I would like to return to The Principal after graduation. Before I interned here, I wasn’t sure what company I was interested in let alone what career I wanted to pursue. It has become very clear to me that this is a great company and that there are endless opportunities for growth.
