Sal Durso - Regional Managing Director
Sal has been leading financial advisors since 1986, most recently as the Regional Managing Director of Principal’s Advisors of The Great Lakes office since 2013. Sal is also the Founder and CEO of Centennial Group, one of the leading Employee Benefits firms in the Midwest. Sal’s main focus is to assist in the development of advisors within his firm. He carry’s out its mission to change lives through assisting individuals and business owners in making smart choices with their money. Sal is on the hospital board at McLaren and is co-founder of All of God’s Children. He and his family live in Lansing, MI. Besides traveling, golfing and fishing, he enjoys all things Michigan has to offer “Up North.”
Mike DeProspero - Senior Managing Director
Mike DeProspero joined the Great Lakes Business Center in 2012 as a Managing Director, where he actively recruits, trains and develops financial advisors. With over 20 years of industry experience, Mike specializes in growing advisors practices using targeted marketing programs, unique business owner planning solutions and creating strategic alliances. Mike resides in Broad Ripple, Indiana and enjoys travel, golf and spending time with his family and friends.
David Fitch - Managing Director
David has over 20 years of leadership experienced in the financial services industry and enjoys helping advisors achieve their potential in serving their clients. His love for learning has led him to obtain his master’s degree in business administration as well as multiple undergraduate degrees. He is a husband and father of four who enjoys spending time with the family, traveling, playing sports and spending time in the great outdoors.
Bill Jaconette - Managing Director, Lansing, MI
Bill has more than 17 years of experience in the financial industry, including private banking & wealth management. Bill joined Principal in 2018 as a Managing Director for the Greater Lansing area. Bill focuses on growing advisor practices by offering unique financial planning strategies to individual and business owners. Bill is passionate about the work he does for his clients and helping them work towards achieving their financial goals and dreams. Bill graduated from Western Michigan University where he earned a BBA in Marketing. Prior to his financial services career, Bill was a PGA golf professional. Bill’s community involvement includes: Ele’s Place, Lansing Metro and DeWitt YMCA’s, Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, and the McLaren Foundation. He currently sits on the Lansing Symphony Orchestra’s Board of Directors. Bill enjoys spending time with his children. He also enjoys golfing, reading and a recent hobby of skeet and trapshooting.
David Olson - Managing Director
David Olson joined the Great Lakes Business Center in 2014 as a Managing Director in West Michigan, where he actively recruits, trains and develops financial advisors. With over 15 years of industry experience, David specializes in growing advisor practices using targeted marketing programs, unique business owner planning solutions and strategic alliances. David is closely involved with American Diabetes Association, Kids’ Food Basket, American Culinary Federation, the Grand Rapids Flames, and Grand Valley Athletic Alumni. He resides in Caledonia with his wife and two children, and enjoys travel, outdoor cooking, camping, fishing, early morning workouts and cheering on the Detroit Tigers.
Joe Pearcy, LUTCF - Managing Director, Kalamazoo, MI
Joe has nearly 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. Joe joined Principal® in 2018 as a Managing Director for our Kalamazoo office. Joe’s mission is to lead a team of community minded financial advisors focused on helping their clients achieve the financial goals that are most important to them.
Joe grew up in the Kalamazoo area and graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics. Joe is a member of NAIFA, GAMMA, and FSP and has earned his LUTCF through the American College. Through his experience, Joe has successfully led a group of advisors focusing on growth and development while also helping families and businesses plan for their financial futures. He has also qualified for MDRT numerus times.
Joe currently resides in the Kalamazoo area with his wife Kayla and their daughter Claire. Joe enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing in a men’s basketball league, working out at the gym, and cheering on the Detroit Lions. He enjoys anything that involves being outside including fishing and relaxing at the beach.
Andrea Garrett - Assistant Director of Field Operations
Upon graduating from Albion College with a degree in Mathematics in 1995, Andrea joined Centennial Group as Operations Manager and then in 2013 she continued her Operations Manager role when the Centennial Group joined with Principal. Andrea plays a key role on the leadership team overseeing the operations of the entire firm which includes locations in Lansing, MI, Grand Rapids, MI and Indianapolis, IN, while also ensuring all clients, representatives and employees of the organization receive a high level of support and service. Andrea resides in Lansing with her husband Scott and 3 teenage daughters.
Cathy Zahn - Supervising Marketing Coordinator
Cathy joined Principal in 2004, and has had the opportunity to experience the key roles in a business center environment including Sales Support, Operations Manager and now as the Marketing Contact for all 3 offices of the Great Lakes Business Center. She has a strong passion for marketing and works closely with advisors on creating & executing a marketing plan that will build their practice. Cathy & her husband Jeremy have 3 busy boys, ages 9,6 and 3. She enjoys spending time with her boys, fitness & traveling around to see her 9 siblings and their families.
Lisa Solomon, CMC - Advisor Development Coordinator
Lisa Solomon joined the Principal Financial Group in November of 1990 and has her life, health & accident license. Lisa volunteers at Hope Unexpected, which nurtures, empowers, and equips young single mothers by demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ. In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her children and five grandchildren.
Brenda Wynsma - Sales Support Specialist
Brenda has been with Principal Financial Group since 2004 and oversees and maintains cases once submitted to home office for processing and underwriting. She enjoys the various duties her job offers in supporting the advisors of the Grand Rapids office as well as greeting the many clients on a day to day basis. She is a born and bred Michigander and along with loving the changes in her job, enjoys the changes of the seasons in Michigan and would never consider leaving.
Kristen LaGoy - Sales Support Specialist
Kristen recently moved back to Indiana to be closer to her extended family with her husband and daughter. In her free time she enjoys working out, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She is a member of Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church and a volunteer at her daughter’s school.
Barbara Polcyn - Sales Support Specialist
Barbara has been with Principal Financial Group for over 4 years with 30+ years of experience in the Banking/Financial Services industry. As a Sales Support Specialist, she loves what she does and it shows by her dedication to supporting her team of advisors by handling all aspects of Business processing and serving as a liaison with various Home Office departments while maintaining a positive attitude that resonates with all. Barbara is known for her outstanding work ethic, organized, efficient, and she takes pride in providing the highest level of service to all she comes in contact with.
Laurie Hickey - Administrative Assistant
Laurie has been with Principal Financial Group since December 2016 and with Centennial Group since August 2014. She enjoys greeting clients at the front desk as well as supporting the advisors and staff in the Lansing office. She lives in Lansing, Michigan with my husband and two boys.
