Notice To Illinois Customers

Due to widespread flooding, on July 14, 2017, Governor Bruce Rauner declared state disaster areas in Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties.

As a result, the Illinois Department of Insurance requested that insurers implement the safeguards below to ensure that Illinois consumers affected by this disaster do not suffer unnecessary hardship.

  • No cancellations or non-renewals. There will be no cancellations or non-renewals for affected policyholders until September 30, 2017.
  • Claim submission extension. The time limit for submitting claims will be extended for another 60 days beyond the standard timing allowed under the contract.
  • Exceptions to policy and contract requirements. In regard to preferred provider contracts, we will provide an exception in a situation where an insured is displaced from his or her home and is unable to obtain services from a network provider.
  • Availability of the Illinois Department of Insurance. The Illinois Department of Insurance is available for assistance in filing a complaint regarding any disaster-related dispute or issue.
