Principal® Foundation grants
Principal® Foundation’s grantmaking targets community organizations and social enterprises where our employees live and work. Our global grant program is by invitation only. If you wish to be considered, you may send us a short email containing the following information:
- A brief overview of your organization’s work (less than 300 words)
- Contact information for the person within your organization who could meet with us for further discussion
Focus areas
Principal® Foundation investments focus on basic needs and financial empowerment. There are three sub-areas of focus under both priorities.

Principal Financial Group Foundation, Inc. (“Principal Foundation”) is a duly recognized 501(c)(3) entity focused on providing philanthropic support to programs that build financial security in the communities where Principal Financial Group, Inc. (“Principal”) operates. While Principal Foundation receives funding from Principal, Principal Foundation is a distinct, independent, charitable entity. Principal Foundation does not practice any form of investment advisory services and is not authorized to do so.
