Personalized beneficiary support when it’s needed most.

 

Experiencing the death of a loved one can be one of life’s most difficult and emotional experiences. To help ease this challenging time, Principal® provides comprehensive support services for beneficiaries of our group term life and voluntary term life policies—at no additional cost.  

Our partners, Empathy and ARAG®, provide beneficiaries with guidance and resources when facing a loss.

Access comprehensive support through Empathy

Beneficiaries receive personalized support through comprehensive bereavement care. This service helps families face the emotional and everyday challenges that come with loss. By merging technology with human care, Empathy assists families with the support of a dedicated team of care managers combined with an app to help navigate through one of life’s most difficult moments.

Beneficiaries have access to several services:

Emotional support

  • Personalized care plan
  • Dedicated care manager and team
  • Grief support resources
  • Access to an online community of peers

Administrative assistance

  • Support with final arrangements and obituary writing
  • Guidance through probate and estate administration
  • Help with closing accounts

Professional services

  • Locating qualified professional service providers
  • Guidance on identity theft protection
  • Ongoing support from dedicated care team

Beneficiaries will receive information about the service when they file a claim.

Access legal document services through ARAG

A loved one’s death is a good reminder for beneficiaries to update their own legal documents. For up to three months after a loss, spouses and dependent beneficiaries can access the Will & Legal Document Center through ARAG.

This valuable service allows beneficiaries to create and complete important documents, including:

  • Will
  • Living will
  • Healthcare power of attorney
  • Durable power of attorney

Beneficiaries will receive information about the service when they file a claim.

These services are not available with group life policies issued in New York.
