Principal® offers a variety of ways for you and your clients to do business with us digitally. Whether you’re looking for solutions for onboarding, enrollment, or administration, we have options that make it easy to write business with us. Your Principal login is your key to opening these opportunities.

Getting access

Having access to login is how you’ll be able to use online capabilities like the Group Onboarding Center and eService, view commission statements, and so much more. There are two ways to gain access to Principal digital services:

If you’re affiliated with an agency/firm:

  • Each agency has a Firm Contact authorized to grant access to delegates.
  • Once access is granted, delegates receive an email to set up their login.
  • If you’re unable to locate your Firm Contact within your agency, we can help – call us at 800-554-3395.

If you’re a Financial Professional/Broker:

  • Go to principal.com/create-account
  • Select Financial Professionals
  • Click Contact us to access the request form

Online access is tailored to fit the needs of each delegate by the Firm Contact. Firms can have one or more Firm Contacts who assist with getting access for delegates to see their specific information with Principal. Delegates can be financial professionals/brokers or others in the firm who need access to Principal information to do things like:

  • Enter information into the Group Onboarding Center
  • Review case information
  • Manage employees on behalf of clients
  • View and pay bill for clients
  • Review compensation statement

Onboarding

The Principal Group Onboarding Center is a more efficient, streamlined way to onboard your group benefits business with us. This online tool—accessed through the Principal website—is used to complete the implementation process for group benefits business. If you’d like to have little to no paperwork and to digitally track your cases from start to finish, the Group Onboarding Center is for you. Here are some of the features:

  • Reflexive questions.
    The tool is dynamic, so only information related to the sold case is requested.
  • Identify missed information.
    The system identifies and prompts for any missing information prior to submitting.
  • Readily available status updates.
    You can easily see the case status online throughout the process.
  • Use the same login credentials.
    You’ll access the Group Onboarding Center through the normal login process.

Enrollment

Educating and enrolling employees can be challenging and sometimes time-consuming. But we can help with simple and convenient ways to manage group benefits.

Everyone would like to see more employee participation. That’s what our education and enrollment programs are all about. Our enrollment specialists work with clients to choose the way they’d like to educate their employees – as a group or in one-on-one meetings. Then they select the enrollment method best for them – online, paper or census.

When it’s time to promote enrollment, we provide access to customized materials, enrollment books and forms. Many of these materials are also available in Spanish.

We’re committed to helping develop and execute the strategy that’s best for each client.

eBenefits Edge from Principal

eBenefits Edge offers employers two enrollment/administration options that start with enrollment and continue to help with ongoing account management. These two services offer management of benefits from Principal and other providers, no matter how many you use.

Total Management — a customizable site specifically for a company’s wants and needs. With Total Management, companies can enroll and manage all benefits. Our staff listens to requests and then creates a site that does just what’s needed for each business’s own benefits program. Total Management also offers optional services that can help solve for specific requirements.

Simplified Management — a streamlined, flat-fee solution for growing businesses with 25–49 employees. Simplified Management provides enrollment and ongoing management for group benefits from Principal and other carriers.

Solutions outside Principal

Principal connects with several different platforms to solve ongoing member-level transaction needs. These connections could be e-file or application program interface (API) based. If you have questions around a platform currently being used, feel free to reach out to your local Principal sales representative to hear more about how we connect with a specific platform.
Specifically, we can help with integrated data connectivity through both Employee Navigator and Ease.

  • Employee Navigator (PDF) – Principal and Employee Navigator work together to offer an integrated online solution for benefit enrollment.
  • Ease (PDF) – Principal and Ease work together to offer our mutual brokers access to a real-time integration that helps make benefits administration faster and easier.
Managing business online

Electronic Data Interchange/eFile

Clients with 50 or more enrolled employees can use eFile to securely transfer data from their system to ours.
