Maryland FAMLI declaration of intent deadline approaching
Beginning September 1, Maryland employers that intend to pursue a private FAMLI plan can submit a Declaration of Intent (DOI) through the state's FAMLI portal. Employers pursuing a private plan must submit a DOI by November 15, 2026.
To help support discussions with employer clients, we've created a Maryland FAMLI DOI guide outlining the process, key deadlines and employer responsibilities for employers considering a private plan option.
The guide includes information on:
- Preparing for the DOI process, including completion of the Proof of Consultation form.
- DOI submission requirements and key deadlines.
- Contribution collection requirements beginning January 1, 2027.
- Quarterly wage and hour reporting requirements, which apply regardless of whether an employer pursues a private plan.
Financial professionals working with Maryland employers should be aware of the November 15 DOI deadline and encourage clients considering a private plan option to begin preparing now. Additional details are available in the Maryland FAMLI DOI guide.
